As reported by MLive Advance Local Express Desk, Bendle Public Schools is among the first recipients of a new state grant program designed to connect Michigan-grown food with institutions that serve thousands of residents daily.

The Good Food for Michigan Project announced Thursday a nearly $26,000 grant partnership with the Burton-based district to increase locally grown and produced food in school cafeterias. The funding will allow Bendle to develop relationships with regional farmers, provide additional staff support and training, and upgrade kitchen equipment.
