Jennifer Gaddis, PhD
Associate Professor of Civil Society and Community Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Author of The Labor of Lunch: Why We Need Real Food and Real Jobs in American Public Schools, and Co-Author of Transforming School Food Politics around the World

As a public scholar and expert on school food politics and systems change, Dr. Jennifer Gaddis brings a care economy and labor-centered perspective to the national conversation about school food. Dr. Gaddis earned a PhD from the Yale School of the Environment in 2014, and her research uses critical feminist and ecological lenses to examine the social, political, and economic organization of daily life, particularly within the context of school- and community-based food systems.

Mara Fleishman
Chief Executive Officer, Chef Ann Foundation

Mara Fleishman’s career in food systems advocacy started in her early 20s when she looked to the power of food after being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Fleishman has over 20 years of experience in leading systems change initiatives in the for-profit and non-profit sectors including over a decade at Whole Foods Market where she served as Global Director of Partnerships. In Fleishman’s current role as CEO of the Chef Ann Foundation, she has spent the last 10 years fighting for healthier food for our nation’s kids. Fleishman’s niche is system-based change, and her favorite leadership role is programmatic engineering: breaking down problems to their foundation and building programmatic solutions through dynamic and integrated approaches.
